Description
Mukhkantivardhak Ubtan – A Glimpse into the Ritual
Before cosmetics came in bottles, there was Ayurvedic Face Care —fragrant, potent, and alive with herbs. Ubtan – Ayurvedic face cleanser , meaning “face glow-enhancing”, draws from the beauty rituals once followed by queens and noblewomen, who used it as a gentle exfoliant, purifier, and complexion booster.
Hand-pounded and sun-dried, our powder contains dosha-balancing ingredients, crafted to cleanse, refine, and illuminate your skin—without disturbing its natural balance. It’s not just an ayurvedic face cleanser. It’s skincare as a sacred act. Please consult our vaidyas for more information.
Ingredients
Ingredients
Lal Chandan (Red Sandalwood)
If you’ve ever used Lal Chandan, you already know how cooling it feels. Ayurveda calls it sheeta with laghu and ruksha qualities, but honestly, what you notice first is how it calms down heat on the face. It reduces that shiny, oily look and leaves the skin feeling a little more toned and even.
Manjistha
Manjistha has this deep connection with complexion in Ayurveda (rakta shodhaka, varnya). You don’t see it working immediately, but over time the skin just starts looking clearer — the kind of clarity that comes slowly, like your skin finally settling into its natural balance.
Lodhra
There’s a mild tightening you feel when Lodhra dries on the skin. That’s the classic kashaya (astringent) nature of it. It’s one of those herbs people use when they want the face to look firmer and more “awake,” especially if the skin tends to get oily.
Koot Meetha
This smells like those old traditional pastes your grandmother might have used. Ayurveda groups it under cleansing and varnya actions. It gives a deeper clean — not scrubbing — more like removing the heaviness or buildup the skin collects through the day.
Priyangu
Priyangu is actually mentioned in Charaka’s Varnya Gana. In practice, it simply gives this soft, calm glow. It’s lovely for sun-tanned or overheated skin because it eases that Pitta-type redness and brings the tone back to normal.
Vat (Banyan Sprout)
If you’ve ever used a tightening pack, you’ll recognise the feel of this. Banyan sprout has been used traditionally whenever someone wanted gentle firmness. It’s subtle — like the skin lifting just a little bit after washing it off.
Masoor Dal
Masoor is the most no-nonsense exfoliator. When ground, it becomes soft, almost creamy. It removes dead skin without scratching and leaves the surface smoother and cleaner. And because it naturally contains proteins, the skin feels conditioned, not stripped
